In this video you’ll learn how to leverage campaign-related behaviors in workflows. Major topics include: Campaign filters and destination pages.

In an earlier video, we looked at how we can review individual campaign performance with regard to delivery, open rate, engagement, and targeted users. Outside of campaigns, you can find campaign filters in segmentation engines.

For example, I recently sent out this invitation. If I want to know if anyone from my top accounts have clicked on the link to sign up, I can go to that segment and add a filter for Engaged with. Locate the campaign name and the button name, set my preferences on timing, and click to add. I can even apply and combine filters from different campaigns. The next time you’re looking at segments, explore all the campaign filter options under the Account and User objects.

Let’s take it a step further and build a complete workflow around campaign behavior. I have a new campaign that celebrates a customer’s 2-year anniversary. Additionally, I want to ask that customer to join our ambassador program. In my campaign designer, I currently have this button linking out to an external web page or a home-made Google form. I’d like to instead bring the entire process into Totango using a destination page.

First, I need to build that page. I can find that within the SuccessBLOC under the Assets tab. Click to add and choose destination page. Here, we can add some design elements for the page, such as logo and text. And we can even include links in the text for more information. Outside of what the page looks like, the real power is in what the page can do.

Destination pages have two options for automatically updating attributes or user actions. I just so happen to have a user attribute called “Ambassador” that I want Totango to set to yes if my recipient opts in. We might use the page load option if we want Totango to update that attribute as soon as the recipient clicks the button from the campaign.

Or, we can add a Call to Action button as an additional step. Perhaps instead of immediately confirming, we add a little more information and give our recipient one more chance to confirm their interest prior to Totango updating the attribute, and include a message if they click the button. Either way, when we’re ready we can give the page a name and click to Save.

Now, back in the campaign editor, now we can choose the new destination page. Here, we can even override the destination page settings if we wanted to specify a different action or add more just for this campaign. When ready, save and activate the campaign. You may already be thinking of more workflows now that this attribute is updated based on user input! Perhaps you build a new SuccessPlay that checks for any new ambassadors and schedules a task for our Ambassador Program Director to check in with the new recruit.
