Are you responsible for assigning team members to accounts? Learn how to keep one Totango’s most powerful attributes up-to-date. If you’re unfamiliar with account assignment, we recommend you start here. Totango supports several different techniques for managing account assignments.

#1 - Bulk updating in a segment: If you are just getting started in Totango, use the bulk update feature within segments.  Simply choose the account assignment role you want to update, and set the value for the selected accounts. You can always switch to an automated method in the future.

#2 - Segment triggers: If you want to manually set account assignment at the time of account creation, enable a segment trigger as a reminder. Then, click  the link in the email to update the account assignment in the segment or from the widget on the account profile.

#3 - Data integration: If account assignment is managed in another system like your sales CRM, you may want to set up your data integration to update Totango whenever the relationship is updated in the system of truth. This method is especially useful if you want Totango to reflect assignments on the account for roles that don’t have a Totango user license. 

#4 - SuccessPlay: If you have a small team, you may have key data points to automate assignment via SuccessPlay! For example, if a new account gets added with a particular Tier, Contract Value, Timezone, or Region, you can configure a play for each of your named team members. 

#5 - Reassignment of resources: When someone on your team leaves, one important step in user management is reassigning resources as part of the user deactivation process. Simply choose the user who will take on the user’s accounts and tasks going forward.
